Emergency Treatment & Temporary Registrations
Emergency Treatment
If you are ill while you are away from home, or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one, you can receive emergency treatment from us for 14 days.
After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
Temporary Resident
You can register as a temporary resident for up to 3 months. This can be helpful if you're living away from home, but do not want to change your home GP surgery.
To register you'll need to fill out a temporary services form available from reception.
After 3 months, you'll have to reapply to register as a temporary resident or become a permanent patient.
Visiting from abroad
You may also be able to register as a temporary resident, please find information here.
If your application is refused, you can still receive any emergency treatment for up to 14 days.
Please note, that on some occasions, we may have to decline temporary registrations, but we will always offer emergency treatment.
Patients in England cannot register as temporary patients at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
Registering Children
Children under 16 need to be registered by their parent or guardian.
This usually means filling in a separate form. You may also be asked to provide a form of ID to prove that you are their parent or guardian.
It is also very helpful to provide thier 'personal child health record' (red book) if they have one.
Disabled Patient Facilities
Our surgery entrance is accessible for wheelchair or mobility scooter users.
We have a disabled parking space next to the front door and a wheelchair is available for use in surgery.
If you are experiencing hearing difficulties when being called in to see the doctor or nurse, please do let us know.
We can set up an alert on your medical records to personally collect you from the waiting room.
Please do let reception know if there is anything else that we can assist you with.
We are happy to help.
Non-English Speakers
These fact sheets have been written to explain the role of UK health services, the National Health Service (NHS), to newly-arrived individuals seeking asylum. They cover issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.
Special care has been taken to ensure that information is given in clear language, and the content and style has been tested with user groups.
